Molly Filer, LMHC
About Molly
I have experience working in a variety of mental health settings, including community mental health agencies, a partial hospitalization program for women and adolescent girls, an ADHD center, and running my own private practice. Prior to working in the mental health field, I was a trauma-informed yoga teacher and a classical flutist.
I am truly honored by the work I get to do with clients. I treat counseling as a collaborative process, and strive to create an environment of support, warmth, and humor, where you can slowly re-discover parts of yourself that have been obscured by trauma, the stresses of modern life, and the various experiences that can cause us to lose our way. In addition, I am committed to doing my own ongoing work of self-discovery. To this end, I see my own counselor and engage in regular professional consultation.
In my free time, I love hiking, cross-country skiing, growing a big garden, sewing clothes and attending my book club. I live in the Methow Valley with my husband and fluffy black cat, Ursula.

Grief & Loss
Grief happens when we lose someone we love, and in many less obvious instances as well. You may feel grief about your life not looking like you expected it would, for any variety of reasons. You may feel grief about climate change or the current political situation. I specialize in sitting with you in the midst of big feelings and helping you build skills to cope and rebuild after losses of all kinds.
Trauma & EMDR
Trauma comes in many forms and it consists of anything that overwhelm’s your nervous system’s ability to cope. Some examples of this are: abusive and/or unsafe relationships, having unreliable caretakers as a child, experiencing or witnessing accidents, and natural disasters.
I’m trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Densensitization and Reprocessing), a type of therapy that goes beyond talking and accesses our brain’s innate ability to heal itself after trauma has occurred. Click here to learn more about EMDR.
